Rounds Time: Early Reg. Ends Wed. Mar. 15 - Event is actually on Sat. Mar. 28 - Round one at 10:30 AM. Grades K-6 Usually ends by 3:30-4:00 PM.
Byes: NO 1/2-point byes, unless requested in advance.
Prize Info:  Top three teams and individuals in each section will receive trophies.

Registration - Onsite: 9:00 - 10:00 am. Round 1 at 10:30 AM

Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • TOP 1st PLACE R.I. PLAYER GRADE 9-12 & GRADE 7-8 Section in this Tournament will represent R.I. at Denker & Barber National Championships

  • Plenty of parking in main lot. Tournament located in DONOVAN HALL. Students will be in separate rooms
  • ONLY EARLY REGISTRATIONS WILL HAVE THEIR NAMES LISTED ON CHAMPIONSHIP T-SHIRTS
  • Bring Chess Clock. Food available on site at cafeteria
  • Enter as an individual, play as a team!! A team's total score will be calculated by adding the points of the top four scoring players. Trophies will be given to the top out-of-state student winner in each section
  • There is no limit on entries, but must be from the same school (district). A team must have 3 or more players.
  • Please notify organizer if you are a part of a team & be sure to list your team on entry form. In most cases you will not play against teammates
  • MUST HAVE USCF MEMBERSHIP NUMBER IN ADVANCE TO REGISTER FOR TOURNAMENT. 3 month trial membership is $10 for students under 13 and $12 for students under 18. Full year memberships available as well. Go to www.uschess.org

  • MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
