Entry Fee: Masters: by 1/20, $45; by 2/10, $55; onsite $65; $10 discount for 2300+. U2000: by 1/20, $35; by 2/10, $45; onsite $55; $10 discount for 1950+. U1600: by 1/20, $35; by 2/10, $45; onsite $55; $10 discount for 1550+. GM/IM/FM/WGM/WIM/WFM free.

Tournament Sections: Masters: Open to USCF 2000+
U2000: Open to USCF 1600 - 1999
U1600: Open to USCF 1200 - 1599
Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • Winner of the lower section will be invited to play in the next upper section in the next tournament. No play-up allowed otherwise.
  • GM Iotov, GM Ivanov and IM Shmelov confirmed to play, and will review games with their opponents when time allows. The confirmed IM/GMs will NOT be paired to play each other, and will NOT be eligible for money prize.
  • Free GM game analysis available for U1600 and U2000 by GM Leonid Kritz and GM Nadezhda Kosintseva.
  • Quads with G45/d5 can be arranged for U1600 players. Contact organizer if interested.
  • College Student: 50% discount, pay full entry fee online and claim refund onsite; contact organizer for carpool information from Cambridge and Providence.
  • Discount available for out-of-state players (more than 80 miles in distance).
  • Online registration: by Midnight 2/09 EST.
  • Withdraw: by 2/8, $5 process fee for refund; after that $15 process fee.
  • Prize guaranteed with 15 paid players in the corresponding section. Otherwise, 50% entry fee allocated for prize fund.

  • MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
