- Tournament open only those who have ever played at the Wachusett CC since its inception in February 1960.
- George M. Putika,born April 8, 1911, was a longtime member of the Wachusett Chess Club.
- He lived many years in Westminster, Mass. before retiring to Florida.
- He lived in Palm Harbor, Florida and died at age 92 in Dunedin, Florida on Jan. 20, 2004.
