Time Control: 6SS G/90 + 30 and with Armageddon playoffs in case of draws (see at bottom of page for details)
Rounds Time: 10:00am & 3:30pm each day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Byes: Due to the funky scoring system, players who normally would get a 0.5 bye will be getting a bye worth 1.5. A maximum of 3 different 1.5 point byes permitted. If the bye is for the last round, it must be declared before the start of round two.
Prize Info: Open Section: $2500, $1500, $1000, $500; top U2300 $1000, $500;, U2200 Section: $500, $200; top U2000 $150 top U1800 $150; , U1700 Section: $500, $200; top U1500 $150 top U1300 $150; Brilliancy Prize Fund: $1000 (# of brilliancy prizes is not fixed, judges will award all prizes at conclusion of tournament)

Registration Information
Entry Fee: $130 for Open, $90 for U2200 and U1700. $40 more for players <2100 or Unrated in the Open. $20 more after 11/1; Free entry for GM's and IM's
Registration - Onsite: 9:00am - 9:20am (onsite); however entering online in advance via the event webpage link is recommended
Membership Requirement: A current USCF membership is required

Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • Scoring: 3 points for a win, 0 points for a loss 1.5 points for Armageddon win, 1 point for Armageddon loss.
  • In the event of a draw, an unrated Armageddon game will be played with the same colors: White has 10 minutes, Black has 7 minutes
  • ***A current USCF membership is required***
  • Any player holding the title of either Grandmaster or International Master may play in any BCF tournament with no entry fee, and no entry fee will be withheld from any prize he or she wins.
  • ***All tournaments beginning in early to mid October will be held at our new location at 35 Kingston St (first floor up a few steps...handicap accessible via street level elevator) Boston MA***

  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
