Half-point bye must be requested in advance. Limit 1 half-point bye per player. Byes in rounds 3, 4, and 5 are irrevocable and must be requested before the start of round 1. |

Trophies to the top four individuals and top three teams in each section. Medals to players with plus scores who do not receive a trophy. |

Membership Requirement: |
USCF membership is required for ALL players. This must be purchased or renewed by March 17, 2023, at 11:59 PM. Players without an active USCF membership will not be paired. Join or renew at http://uschess.org/.

- This is the official scholastic championship tournament for the state of Rhode Island. As such, it determines both the RI scholastic state champions and the RI representatives to the Denker, Barber, and Rockefeller national tournaments.
- The tournament is open to out-of-state players.
- Players must compete according to grade. Playing up a section is NOT allowed in this event.
- All registration cancellations must be requested by 9:00 AM the day of the tournament. All refunds are subject to a $5 processing fee. No refunds will be issued after 9:00 AM on March 19, 2023.
- Please bring a clock if you have one. Boards will be provided. No outside food may be brought into the hotel.
- Team Competition: A school team’s total score is calculated by adding points from the top three players on that team. Players must be from the same school. A team must have three or more players. Be sure to list your school on the entry form.

- MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
