The Boylston School Break Chess Camp Series [Revised 04-09-2008]
 
Date:  April recess: 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th: - 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
June: 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th - 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
August: 18th, 19th, 20th, 21th - 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
Details:  These chess camps invite young chess players who already have a complete understanding of the rules of chess to come and develop their abilities. With a combination of lecture, question/answer, and hands-on techniques, the instructor(s) will cover:

Tactics Strategy Openings Middlegames Endgames Problems

Students will develop their memory, critical thinking skills, sense of fairness, attention span, and have fun in the process.

Who can join?:  Motivated young people in grades K to 12 interested in getting better at chess from beginner to intermediate. There will be two sections, one for motivated beginners already familiar with the game, one for intermediate.
EF:  Each camp is $60 for Boylston Chess Club members. Non-members who have never been members before will need to pay to join the club for one year in which case the camp fee is waived. (Parents with more than one child in the camp can get a discount—only $35 per child.)

Instructor:  The head instructor will be Chess Master Jacob Rasin, an experienced coach who has been the coach of many of New England’s best young players and has inspired them to many championships.

Details: The teacher is International Master, five times Champion of Massachusetts, Igor Foygel, He has more than thirty years of experience teaching Chess, including coaching Masters and Grandmasters.

The Roxbury Latin School Summer Chess Camp [Revised 01/10/08]
 
Date: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. July 14 - 18, 2008.
Details: Instructor: This one week coed intensive camp will be conducted by Internationally Ranked Senior Chess Master Jacob Rasin, an experienced teacher who has coached many of New England’s best young Masters, Team USA Members, World Campionship and Pan American Championship Participants, National and State Champions. The course will cover tactics, strategy, openings, middlegames, endgames and problems. Boys and Girls of all levels of play (entering grade 6 through grade 12, including graduated seniors are encouraged to participate.
Fee: $275.00 Financial Aid is available
