"Every year I work in the inner-city going to numerous Community Centers and every year one or more inner-city tournaments are held. I have helped many Junior Chess Clubs get started. Two outdoor chess camps are held during the summer with a chess tournament on Friday. Trophies are awarded. All this is made possible by the LMCF. LMCF is a very important part of MACA and we hope to receive your moral support and any financial donations are appreciated."

The "Living Memorial Chess Foundation", a tax deductible 501 (c) 3 fund, has provided hundreds of chess sets and boards to schools, libraries, junior chess clubs, human service organizations and community groups.

The Foundation has also run numerous inner city chess tournaments, such as the Boston Youth Chessfest for the last several years. It bears the financial responsibility for this tournament which is designed to attract inner-city children and the beginning chess players. This low cost tournament has attracted hundreds of children over the years.

During the summer every year hundreds of children learn to play chess in the inner-city using chess equipment provided by the Foundation at numerous community centers in the city of Boston. The program is set up by the by the Community Centers of Boston.

Low cost or free inner-city tournaments have also been held in Rhode Island with the help of the Foundation. Every year the Foundation works with the Volunteers in Providence School System to hold a tournament with a low entry fee similar to the Boston Chessfest. Numerous Schools and libraries have received free equipment for chess programs. The supporting of chess for children is very important. There is great need to help youth develop a widespread interest and competence in the playing of chess. Encouraged by elders and peers, chess can capture many children's imaginations, free time and wild energy! It's important that children free time be occupied and they won't get into drugs. (Its a sure way Checkmate Drugs.) At schools and at other sites children that do not have chess sets at home are given chess sets and easy to understand chess literature.
