Rounds Time: Round 1 at 10:00 AM. Others on completion of each round.
Byes: Byes must be requested in advance. Limit 1 half-point bye per player. Byes in rounds 3 and 4 are irrevocable and must be requested before the start of round 1.
Prize Info: Trophies will be awarded to the top three players in each section.

Entry Fee: $25 online by 2/20 at 11:59 PM, $30 at site (cash or check only).
Registration - Onsite: 9:00 - 9:45 AM
Membership Requirement: USCF membership is required for players in all sections except the Novice section. This should be purchased before the tournament from the USCF.

Tournament Sections: Open (USCF rated and MSGP)
Age 14 & Under (USCF rated and MSGP)
Age 11 & Under (USCF rated and MSGP)
Age 8 & Under (USCF rated and MSGP)
Novice (UNRATED and not an MSGP section)
Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • This tournament is part of the Massachusetts Scholastic Grand Prix (MSGP), which is administered by the Massachusetts Chess Association (MACA). For MSGP details, click HERE.
  • The Novice section does not count toward the MSGP. The other four sections are all MSGP sections.
  • Please bring a clock if you have one. Boards and sets will be provided.
  • Players who register in advance must check in onsite between 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM.
  • Sections may be combined dependent upon the number of players.
  • A player in a USCF rated section has the option to play in a higher section.

  • MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
