Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • On-site registration cut-off is 9:00 AM sharp. Anybody registering after 9:00 will receive a 0-point bye in Round 1, and will be paired in Round 2. There are no 1/2 point byes available.
  • No smoking, no computers, or electronic devices other than US Chess-approved scorekeeping devices; site is wheelchair-accessible
  • Section eligibility based on 2021-22 school grade. Players in grades K-5 can't enter the Grades 6-8 section.
  • Bring your own chess set, board, and chess clock (if you have one). Items not provided at tournament.
  • All food consumed in the hotel must be purchased from the hotel.
  • Players must be rated 1200 or above, official or live, to play in the 6-8 qualifier section, 1000 or above to play in K-5.
  • There is no minimum rating to play in the K-3 qualifier section but we recommend that players be rated 600 or above.
  • Masks are required. Certification of Covid vaccination may be required.

  • MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
