How to Volunteer:
MACA, being an organization chartered for the express purpose of promoting chess, has a wide range of activities it would like to perform.  The organizations bylaws provides an outline of major areas to help guide us in our efforts.
While the Eastern region of Massachusetts has a sizeable pool of players who participate in weekend tournaments and attend clubs, the number of people who are able and willing to give of their time to the grand purpose of promoting chess, unfortunately is small.  In fact, very small.
Whether you have a  you have a professional skill or even just time you are willing to donate to further the cause of chess in Massachusetts, it is almost certain that MACA can use your contribution.
The fastest and easiest way to get involved is to contact the board of directors and let them know that you are interested in helping out in some way.  You can contact the board by emailing   Board@MassChess.org
If you would like to scope out the possible ways you can contribute, we recommend you spend time looking at the Board Activities pages.  There you will find much information about the organization and the current activities.  Another good point of reference is to look at the Contacts page and look at the standing committees.  You will most likely find that there are a number of vacant coordinator positions.  This usually indicates that there is zero activity going on in that area of chess development.
It is very feasible that you could contribute significantly to many of our efforts via your own computer.  For example, you could serve as a proof reader or contributor to our award winning magazine, Chess Horizons.
For Scholastics Chess Parents:
If you have a child participating in scholastics chess and would like to offer assistance in the many scholastic activities MACA runs, we recommend explore our Scholastics pages and contact the scholastics coordinator.  Assisting scholastics can be as simple as acting as a hall monitor at events.  While this may seem trivial, please take us at our word, any assistance helps us a great deal.
Job Descriptions:
We hope that you will be able to give of your time to help promote chess in Massachusetts by assisting MACA in fulfilling its charter.
