I am a FIDE Master with two International Master norms (USCF 2298 / FIDE 2350). I am available for lessons for chess students of all ages and levels. Feel free to contact me at [626-693-2310] or [evgeny.grshov78@gmail.com].

My chess foundation was built at the prestigious Chess School of Olympic Reserve in Moscow, Russia, where I received my chess education from 1988 to 1995. As a competitor, I was a proud Coca-Cola Chess Scholar at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). During my collegiate career, I achieved the honor of becoming a gold medalist in both the collegiate Pan-American and Final Four competitions.

I have an extensive professional background as a chess educator. As the Lead Coach at Four Knights Chess Academy, I developed a structured chess training curriculum that helped dozens of children reach the 1600 level . Prior to that, I served as a Senior Chess Instructor at the Green Line Center for Child Education, and as a teacher for both Chess in The Schools and Jan Ehlvest “Chess Gates,” bringing chess into the New York City public school system.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of guiding highly talented players. Most notably, I coached Grandmaster Alexander Lenderman from 2006 to 2009. I also assisted Allen Weiss in becoming a gold medalist at the US Chess Championship in the under-eight-years-old category. Furthermore, I regularly accompany my students to local, national, and international tournaments to provide on-site coaching.

Beyond pure chess skills, a core component of my coaching is sports psychology. I teach my students how to be psychologically stable during events, maintain focus over extended periods, and appropriately react to difficult situations. I believe in teaching students how to handle complex problems, find alternative solutions when original plans fail, and master concepts through deep understanding rather than mere memorization.

Outside of the chess world, I hold an M.S. degree in chemistry from the City College of New York and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
